September's gentle air has blwon,
On the back of the October's chillier breezes,
And as I wander the house, alone, staring
Out of the empty windows , and watch the tress
Letting their gentle cargos fall, one by one,
Into golden heaps on the untended lawns,
That should have been bonfire bright,
With shining faces; I wonder:
Will you return, ever?
It was such a place of fun and laughter;
Of fellowship without competition;
Of love without destructive passion;
Of being, belonging, and hoping;
Now, my loneliness is crippling;
But I guess, in this life, nothing,
Not even our imaginings,
Can last forever.
